Service user perspective in social work education in Germany
Generally the degree program of Social Work at a university of applied sciences in Germany enables the students to work in practice. Therefore, encounters with service users are systematically implemented in several courses. Additionally, in almost every degree programme students have to complete an internship for one semester within a social work facility.
An example of good practice is the involvement of EX-IN trainees in courses. Our university (Esslingen) works together with the institution that offers this training and one of the authors (Marion Laging) is a member of the advisory board of that institution.
