Training programme:
Integration of experiential knowledge in professional training

Introduction

The training programme is for lecturers in social work, nursing and other helping professions. Participants of the programme will develop competencies to guide students on their individual learning path, focusing on the use and development of experiential knowledge, and to work with service users and/or experts by experience as co-lectures in delivery of educational programmes.

It expresses the perspective on the use and development of experiential knowledge and integration of service users in educational programmes, developed by the Partnership on Experiential Knowledge. The program was designed by partners from Vilnius, Tartu and Windesheim Universities.

Developers of the programme invite partners (or educators) to look at it as a recommendation. You can adjust it to your institutional experiences and needs. It is also possible to use some exercises separately to make it fit to a specific situation or context. For example, Universities which already have experts by experience, may consider inviting an expert by experience to join the planning group, and taking a part in the delivery of the whole program. It would be of added securing the voice of the service users in the program.

Aim of the training programme is to prepare and support lecturers implementing key principles, didactical and pedagogical methods integrating experiential knowledge in the study process. It could be also of use in training (future) professionals.

Learning outcomes:

The participant will know and be able to implement key principles for integrating experiential knowledge in the study process;

The participant will be able to choose and apply didactical and pedagogical methods for integrating experiential knowledge in the study process;

The participant will be able to work together with service users/ experts by experience as co-lecturers throughout different stages of the study process.
