Event: Experiential Knowledge and Experiential Learning in Higher Education
We look back on three successful days on learning from and working with experiential knowledge both in social work and nursing education and in practice. A special thanks to our host Windesheim University of Applied Sciences and partnership Experiential Knowledge.
The aim of these days was to give examples on various levels on how Experiential knowledge can be applied and make education more personalized and inclusive. Over 80 participants of 13 different countries where present.

Wednesday 9th of October
We start the day with a introduction to Experiential knowledge and the Erasmus+ project Experiential knowledge in higher education, Presentation Erasmus+ project Introduction JP Wilken 9 October 2024.
We had 10 different workshops (Full Program event: Experiential Knowledge and Experiential Learning in Higher Education | PowerUs) and 3 field visits to Nexus recovery center, Prisma Psychology Zwolle and Focus Kampen recovery center . You can find the presentations below the photo gallery.
Thursday 10th & Friday 11th October
Thursday we had three inspirational keynotes with additional dive in sessions with the speakers:
- Keynote Bini Araia – ‘Mend the Gap’, also see article ‘Why asylum seeker parents are scared of social workers’.
- Keynote Alie Weerman – shared her experiences of 20 years implementing experiential knowledge in social work education at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences.
- Keynote Jean Pierre Wilken and colleagues from the partnership Experiential Knowledge in Higher Education – present the main outcomes of this 3 years Erasmus+ project.
Dina Ben Ezra and Sylvie Lamerand from IRTS PACA Corse shared an inspiring movie about training of peer – mediators, displayed on the right.
